About the event
Young Naturalists introduces children to careful observation through nature journaling. Participants will explore plants, insects, weather, textures, and seasonal changes, then record what they discover through sketches and simple written observations. This relaxed homeschool enrichment experience encourages curiosity, attention, and a deeper relationship with the natural world. Seasonal series themes: September: Late Summer & Early Fall — Observe garden plants, insects, seed heads, and the first signs of seasonal change. October: Fall Leaves & Trees — Study leaf shapes, colors, bark, and changing trees. November: Seeds, Nuts & Winter Preparation — Observe seed dispersal, nuts, birds, and how nature prepares for winter. January: Winter Trees & Tracks — Study bare trees, winter textures, animal tracks, and signs of life. March: Spring Buds & Early Growth — Observe buds, emerging plants, early insects, and changing weather. May: Flowers & Pollinators — Explore flowers, bees, butterflies, and other garden visitors. Each session uses observation, drawing, simple field notes, and outdoor exploration…
